A few gratuitous non-knitting pics...

Given that I just started the wrap cardigan from Reynolds Blossom leaflet #82245, and so do not have much to show besides a stockinette-stitch back-in-progress, I thought I'd post some other pictures today instead...

First finished BSJ!

I have been out of the knitting loop for a while due to being pregnant with my second child and having bad morning sickness for the first couple of months -- I couldn't stand the smell of yarn for a while, actually! Luckily that didn't last too long, and I just finished the Baby Surprise Jacket from Elizabeth Zimmermann, and am excited to say it fits Eli just perfectly! I am going to have to make another for his upcoming baby sister.

I am definitely going to use this pattern again -- it was lots of fun to knit, especially because I had no idea how it was going to turn into a sweater until after binding off!

Monsieur Cat

Presenting to you...Monsieur Cat from Lucinda Guy's Handkints for Kids book.

Yarn: Brown Sheep Naturespun 100% wool. I used roving to stuff him rather than synthetic stuffing -- I find roving is not as lumpy.

This was really a fun and easy knit. And I think it looks pretty cute! Here is the book in case anyone is interested:

I really like this book. The projects are well explained, the designs are all REALLY cute and the book contains about an equal number of items for boys and girls (I have found that a lot of the knitting books for babies/kids focus on designs for girls, which is somewhat frustrating if you have a little boy). I can definitely see myself making many of the projects in this book.

All the yarns listed in the book are Rowan yarns (I believe Rowan publishes the book, actually). However, finding substitutes should not be that difficult.

The owner of my LYS wants to make Monsieur Cat with bulky yarn on huge needles, so he would come out gigantic. I think that would be very cute!

Oh, and this seems like a wonderful idea -- I don't think I'll be able to make the deadline for this round, but I certainly would like to participate next time!

And now for some cute kitty pics...

Below are Ruby (my tailless kitty) and Parker (my million dollar kitty) cuddling up in a chair.

And here is Snotty (don't ask), my in-laws' kitty, curled up in a basket.

An update -- it's about time!

WOW -- I have been extremely lazy when it comes to updating my blog. I have, however, been busy knitting, among other things. My son's first birthday party was on December 10th (his actual birthday was December 8th) and then there was Christmas. I was frantically knitting my MIL's Christmas gift, which I unfortunately forgot to take a picture of.

I do, however, have pictures of several FOs. My new iPod needed a cozy, which I whipped up and felted yesterday.

I also finally finished the branching out scarf (picture to follow),as well as an extremely long scarf/wrap whose colors I absolutely love. It was knit by casting on 160 stitches, knitting about 30 rows, and then binding off. The furry edging was done in Glowlash and was knitted on later by picking up stitches along the short edges.

Happy New Year to you all! Good times and happy knitting wishes!

Finally...

After several unsuccessful attempts I have finally made it through a few pattern repeats on Branching Out, this time using Noro Kureyon in color 150. I would like to here what anyone out there thinks about using this yarn -- I know it is a lot bulkier than what most others on the Branching Out KAL are using.

Interesting...

interchangeable
You are interchangeable.
Fun, free, and into everything, you've got every
eventuality covered and every opportunity just
has to be taken. Every fiber is wonderful, and
every day is a new beginning. You are good at
so many things, it's amazing, but you can
easily lose your place and forget to show up.
They have row counters for people like you!

Felted present!

Here's a last-minute felted bag I knit up for my mom's birthday. I used a pattern from Pursenalities in the "Petites" section. It was a fun knit and only took a few hours. The yarn I used was Lamb's Pride bulky with a strand of Gossamer mixed in. The Gossamer gives the bag a subtle shine. I really like the buttons my LYS person helped pick out -- it compliments the color in the Goassamer yarn quite well.
